I was hooked. Glued. Right from the beginning. That prologue had my eyes wide open.

If you liked _The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden_ or _Reason To Breathe_ then I'm going to guess you'll like this one too. There is an intensiveness to it that will make it hard to put down.

It's deep, it's dark, and I loved it. Emerson is a teenager on the run. And no matter what's ahead, it's worlds better than what she's lived through so far. It's a scary world out there. And in some intense darkness she runs into Jay, a vagabond. While he wants to warn her of the horridness of the vagrant lifestyle in such a way that will leave Em running back to mommy and dady, he quickly feels the need to protect her instead. And that protection becomes so much more. Adoration, trust, love. This story is rich.

Have you ever thought a homeless teenage guy that hadn't bathed in weeks was hot? No? Well, this author may change your mind. If the answer is yes, well then there you go! You already love this book. ;) This is a break from the norm YA leading male right now in that Jay is not tatted up, with a drool-worthy 6 pack, and a hit-it-and-quit-it reputation. But even if he doesn't fit the description of what "does it" for you, I'm sure you'll still fall in love with him. He's a lay it on the line kind of guy, and he absolutely stole my breath away at times. One scene in particular so sweet that it brought tears to my eyes. And while what they had was profound and real, even with their rich chemistry there was no sex. It's a great YA book in every sense.

It's written in 3rd person, which in the indie world I've come to loathe. But the author did it justice. Other than a few typos that are standard in most books I read these days, it reads well. And I'll be reading it again I'm sure. I highly recommend this book!!!

Why not 5 stars then?
Because apparently I've become a picky book whore over this past year. I don't sling out 5 stars like a good 99 cent hooker should. And while I loved this book and had a hard time putting it down, I was a little upended by the ending. Without spoiling it too much... it just seemed a little too neatly tied up (in a bow). Those two court documents just seemed too unreal. Couldn't have happened without Em's (or "his") knowledge and not that quickly either. But don't let that stop you from getting this book. At least it has a happy ending! I'd be dropping f bombs all through this review if I was dragged through the mud the whole book just to have the other shoe drop.

(warning: this book deals with the subject of molestation/sexual abuse. But it is done so respectfully and there are no graphic scenes)

Fight or Flight Fight or Flight #1 eBook Jamie Canosa Reviews

OMG I freaking loved this book!! It was so damn good. This opens up with Emerson (Em) running away from home. Her first moments in a new town and with only her backpack and some meager belonging doesn't turn out so well. Within moments a thief takes her pack and she is left alone and scared. At the same time she meets Jay another homeless person who steps in to warn her off chasing the thief. Later that night alone, freezing, hungry and being harmed by another homeless man Jay reappears and saves her. This is where these two strangers connect and their relationship was beautiful. I just adored Jay. He was so thoughtful and brave. Jay took Em on and became her friend, savor and later the love of her life.

These two had a rough go of it . It broke my heart to read about all their struggles. Made me thankful for the food that I have and a warm home to sleep in. I did love when Jay was teaching Em the ropes and places to go to shower, find blankets and even clothes. Places I would have never thought of. Each one of their stories about why they ran away was heart breaking. I think the growth of Emerson was amazing. The ending was a little too simple after all they endured. But I loved it just the same.
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
OMG!! I love this cover! And the book was amazing! This book has approximately 350 pages and I flew through it in a few hours, I literally could not put it down until it was finished. This book is both sad and beautiful at the same time. It talks about a lot of real life situations that were sometimes hard to hear but made me realize what some people have to deal with on a daily basis in order to survive. The story is also cute and heartwarming in a weird way. The ending made me very happy and I can't wait to read the next book.
I love Emerson. She is so brave to have survived what she went through and have escaped even though she knew she would have to live on the streets. She may have been inexperienced in that environment but like she said she would rather die on the streets then at home. I also fell in love with Jay. He didn't have to help Em but he knew she wouldn't survive without him. I really think that they complimented each other perfectly and I'm so glad that they found one another. Despite the circumstance. I also really liked Sam. It's nice to see that there are still good people in the world.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I can't wait to get started on book two. Jamie Canosa is an author to watch out for. I need to find out if Em and Jay finally get their happily ever after. I would recommend this novel to EVERYONE!!!
