Tin Angel Kat Martin L J Martin 9781885339256 Books

Flighty teenage fruitcake meets tough but sensitive manager of a whorehouse and find themselves in one dangerous adventure after another on the Barbary Coast of CA in its early years. Some of it was funny, some was touching, some was scary. All of it was borderline ridiculous high adventure. None of it was believable but does that matter? It does to me but may not matter to all readers. The intimacy is intense and graphic. The background historical settings are excellent. The heroine is so immature and headstrong that the romance became more of a farce. If either main character had used good sense, most of the action wouldn't have happened.

Tin Angel Kat Martin L J Martin 9781885339256 Books Reviews

Another good book by Kat and L.J. Martin! The heroine is beautiful, intelligent, and full of fire. The hero is one of those tall, dark, and handsome, slightly bad boys that women love to hate and love to love! Set in San Francisco shortly after the Civil War, the story contains elements of both high society and the wild west. A good book to curl up with on a cold winter afternoon!
I'm a sucker for westerns - a genre it seems a lot of people don't read anymore. The authors did a great job of capturing my interest from the very beginning - who doesn't like the story of the Eastern lady who goes West to find adventure! I've read other stories by L.J. Martin, but none co-written by L.J. and Kat - so was really happy to discover a great old-fashioned yarn. Neat to read an historic western with interesting twists and turns not often seen in other books. Highly recommended.
Took these two hard-headed, stubborn, hot-tempered an entire book to finally come to their senses. You just know their accidental adventures will continue for many years to come, but rather than fighting each other at every turn; together, fighting the bad guys would be a blast to read. Sadly, this is listed as a stand alone novel on the Martin's websites AND was written quite some time ago, but a reader can hope. Lol
I love Louie Lamour, enjoy Nicholas Sparks, and Jimmy Stewart was my all time favorite actor. What you have here is a book that falls between Lamour and Sparks and a dabbling similiar to Stewart's Cheyenne Social Club in the mix. Make no mistake this is not a copy cat it stands well on it's own I just drew the smiliarity. I'm a L.J. Martin fan so it was an easy choice to read this book and the Martins together have produced a truly enjoyable read that combines romance, the old west, and some historical facts thrown in. When you want to relax and read for fun this is a book for you.
This was a well written book. The edition had a few grammar errors here and there but nothing that was too annoying. If your like me, these things tend to stand out on the page (or screen). I've followed Kat Martin in some of her previous books and she didn't disappoint me with this one. I enjoyed the characters and some of the history portrayed in this book. Jessie is a strong and determined woman which I appreciate. Jake is just as determined to keep her safe from her stubborn self. Great love story that I'd recommend to western historical romance lovers.
I have to say that the story is not your usual predictable fairytale-- it's something that was refreshing for me. I love the twist and turns that builds up the path to the so called "romance". It's emotional and very detailed, if I might add. The way the author portrayed every scene and every emotion was what really drew me into reading this book from the first page down to the last.

I've had the pleasure of reading J.L Martin books and now that I've read one book by his wife, Kat Martin, I'd have to say that I might just become a fan of hers too. I definitely enjoyed reading the book and I'm sure that you'll do too if you want a novel that's very descriptive and emotional with a unique story line.
Jake Weston inherited 49% of his former boss's saloon upon the man's death; but his daughter, Jessie Taggert, inherited 51% of the business.Jessie travels from Boston to San Francisco for her father's funeral and determined to run her late father's business. Jake would like to buy out her part of the business and send the bossy woman on her way but that was not to be the case. Part of the time, Jessie and Jake can talk and be compatible; a lot of the time they are arguing over each other's stubbornness and jealousy. They become embroiled in a fight between the Chinese and white men in town and then between two rival Chinese gangs.Jessie seems to always be putting herself in danger and Jake rescuing her; during this time they are becoming more aware of each other sexually.
