I am completely hooked on this series. I’m not sure if it is the sexy as sin Kade, the hot lawyer Blane, the foolish and stubborn Kathleen Turner or all the bat-shit crazy things that goes on in these books but I LOVE this series.

For me I enjoyed Turn to Me just a bit better than No Turning Back. Even with all the twists, turns and revelations with the suspense side of the book we also get to see the relationships between Kathleen, Blane and Kade heat up!

On the romance front:

Kathleen and Blane’s relationship is new and Kathleen appears to be quite smitten with him. I mean he is hot, good looking, says and does all the right things so why wouldn’t she fall in love with him. But deep down Kathleen questions if she really fits into Blane’s life. She wonders if she will ever match up to the other women that he has been with. Blane really does care for Kathleen. He would do anything for her, I just think there is something missing.

I’m not usually a fan of love triangles, never have been, but this one is different. I won’t say much other than in my opinion, no lines have been crossed and no cheating is going on. The author is doing an amazing job with keeping this within the boundaries I prefer.

What’s going on between Kathleen (Princess) and Kade may be sensual, sizzling and a bit intense but they also have a deeper connection. They have an unspoken connection. To me they are like kindred spirits. Their moments together gave me that butterflies in my belly feeling. Kade sees inside her heart and even though he may be a bit guarded, when he is with her he allows her to see glimpses of who he really is.

On the suspense front:

Things get rather crazy for Kathleen. Some of the developments were mind-blowing, exciting and kept me completely engaged in the story. Literally, there was not one day that this poor girl could not get up, have coffee and head to work without being chased, shot at or manhandled. Seriously, she is like a cat. She has nine lives!

I simply devoured this book. I loved the way this author writes and the she definitely has a gift for writing some great characters. She offers us a great balance between suspense and romance. She blends in some humor too by writing in story lines and other characters that are a bit in the background but what they add to the whole story is wonderful.

At the end of book we are left once again wondering what will happen with Kathleen, Blane and Kade. My curiosity is peeked and I will continue with this series. On to book #3!

4.5 stars. Kathleen continues to do what she does best, let her curiosity lead her into trouble. While Blane is trying to concentrate on his case and protect Kathleen, he realizes that he cannot do both simultaneously and calls in Kade for back up to look after her. And if Kade and Kathleen are going to be in the same room together, then it's guaranteed that they will clash heads with both barbed words and sexual tension. At the same time, Kade takes his job seriously and won't let Kathleen get hurt, unless she happens to disobey his orders and wanders off on her own. I liked seeing Kade and Kathleen interact more. I also started to see more of Blane in a different light with regards to his relationship with Kathleen and where she fits into his life. There are some seriously comical scenes, too, like when Kathleen's neighbor drops off her dog Bacon Bits for Kathleen to look after. On the same token, there are moments where the characters' vulnerabilities shine through and it's in those times where I could connect with them more deeply and see what they are afraid to say. While Kade is no knight in shining armor, I love his dark side and sarcastic humor. He's real and honest, even when he's lying, whereas Blane is full of secrets and it's hard to interpret what he really wants or feels. I'm really loving this series so far and am hooked to these characters and the plot, which is full of danger, suspense and unanswered questions.
I like to read, but am horrible at writing book reviews. Ask me to write a product review, I'm your gal. Critiquing someone's work is difficult for me because I have trouble articulating non-tangibles in a review and I am also hard pressed to not include spoilers, even when trying not to!

For these reasons I am just going to keep it to a simple star based system for my book reviews. Sorry, but if I was more creative in my writing skills I'd be writing books instead of reading them!

5 star - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Couldn't put it down until I was finished.
4 star - Great read. Hard to put down at bedtime, wanted to finish in the next day or so.
3 star - Good read. Easy to put down, yet still wanted to finish it in the next week.
2 star - It's a read, but let me see if there's anything new on Netflix, Hulu, Instant...
1 star - I paid 99 cents for this?! At least in the old days I could have used the book for kindling or TP.

Here's what I tend to like to help understand how I rated something.

I tend to read suspense, thriller, mystery genres. Not too crazy about the overtly supernatural genre, never cared for Stephen King (found his books hard to get into and terribly bloated), like Dean Koontz (though I am finding his work to feel repetitious/familiar likes he's reaching too meet deadlines and not create stories lately), true crime is good if the case interests me (not crime just for crimes sake).
