I found Troy to be a very interesting secondary character in the first installment of this series. So I was really looking forward to his story. But it fell flat because his character seemed to be following along rather than dynamic. This is really Elaina's story. The problem is that she is an insecure, whiny FBI agent who pouts, can't get along with her coworkers (it's all her dad's fault) and is generally impossible to like or to care about. She does stupid things to prove how great she is but must continually be rescued. If an author chooses to build a romance, the reader fairly expects that relationship to have some level of depth and meaning. This relationship has little except lust. What a waste of the terrific character, Troy, who we first met in Untraceable.

Another problem I had with this book is that the author is too concerned with the multiple secondary characters found either in the first or subsequent books in the series. This unnecessarily slowed and confused the main action.

The premise and general plot are very good. The execution is weak. Compared to Lisa Clark O'Neill, Roxanne St Claire's Bullet Catcher series, or Cindy Gerard this is very second rate.

I love this author's work. I've read several of her books. Again, this one has action throughout the book. There are a lot of characters, so I had to pay attention to who's who at times, but definitely loved my read.
I am a fan of this series, I have started by # 11 and slowly making my way to #1. It's excellent, characters are interesting and the plots are full of suspense
I can't get enough of Ms Griffin Tracer books.Elaina and Troy made a good team and all the twist, turns and suspense kept you guessing. Also the chemistry between these two was hot. Can't wait to see what Ms Griffin has in store for next book.
This was a murder and detective type thriller. The heroine is a rookie FBI agent in her first assignment after training. She is called to assist in an investigation involving a serial killer in South Texas. She also has to deal with resistance, apathy from her peers and condescending attitudes because she is a female. She meets a true crime writer during the investigation and although she fights it, she can't stay away from him. The book is fast paced with some sexual content and romance.
This is the second book in series and I think this is a good series. I like this author she has talent and I look forward to seeing future books by her.
This book will keep you intersted is a good mystery with romantic element. I finished it in 2 days. I like the character development. Elaina is a strong woman trying make it against the odds with fellow employees not wanting her to make it. (could have had more detail on exactly why they did not want her to make it). Troy is a strong, good looking character that is independant also and is attracted to Elaina from the begining. Their relatinship grows fairly well in the story. (could have had a little more romance)Was overall a very good read and I enjoyed very much, good author who I will continue to read.
I love books about the criminal mind and profilers. This book was written real well when it came to these subjects. It discusses the criminal mind with some knowledge. The author develops the characters real well and the story is amazing. It is very suspenseful. I was just hoping it would have a last minute twist. I saw the potential for it and was anticipating it developing several different scenarios but then they just revealed the villain at the end. I was happy with the story. The only thing that I would have like to have seen is better character development of the villain before you know he or she is a villain. He or she was rarely mentioned. His or her sickness and crimes were discussed. But in the book, you really didn't run into him or heras characters in daily life. I hope I am describing it right. I still think you will love this book. The one thing I did not like and if this matters to you, you should know they have a very descriptive sex details.
This is Troy's story, and it's fairly standard romantic suspense. I really liked him in this book whereas in the first, he came across as a bit of an arrogant womanizer. I didn't see that side of him in this book, but I also didn't really "connect" with his relationship with Elaina. It's why I took 1 1/2 stars off----I just didn't care for her much or see what the attraction was other than maybe the fact that she was so totally NOT his type so that made her a challenge. Also, having them have sex for the first time when she was plastered cheapened it for me, and you KNEW she was going to regret it. As for the plot.....it was OK, held my interest, and I have to admit, I guessed wrong on who the bad guy was. One other minor annoyance for me.....I enjoy it when the love interests have had some sort of interaction before in a previous book, and you think to yourself "They're going to get their own book one day." Elaina was a totally new character for us. Overall, I've now read 4 of the books in this series and am on #5 and I would recommend each one of them.
