I love the McKinney family. After reading the first book I was hooked and haven't in any way been disappointed in what followed. This was JT's story. After a car accident cost him part of his leg, thereby crushing his dream of a football career, he flees to California where he starts his own company. A biomedical engineer, he makes prosthetics and is on the cutting edge of research and development in his field. He's assembled a great group of people to work with him, including Simon, his closest friend. As for JT's family, although he still talks to them on the phone, he doesn't make a habit of visiting that often. It's difficult for him to go home after what happened there. He still carries a load of guilt over it which makes him question his relationship and feelings for Paige Roberts and her daughter, Casey.Paige works two jobs trying to make ends meet while caring for her four year old child. Casey will be starting kindergarten in the fall but seems reluctant to go. Paige is pretty sure it's because Casey is missing the lower portion of one leg. It simply never grew like the other one and while she has a prosthesis, she only wears it about half the time. So when she meets JT and he volunteers to help, she doesn't hesitate to say yes.
Casey ends up being quite taken with Jake, as she calls him. Worrying about being different from other kids her age, she relishes the idea of her and Jake being "the same". And when he takes her on a tour of his business and even lets her design her own prosthetic, she's made a friend for life.
Jake's surprised by his attraction to both Casey and her mom. After what happened in the past, he's avoided serious relationships and focused mainly on his work, but all that changes when he meets Paige. Now he finds himself looking for reasons to spend time with her. He searches for ways to make her happy and Casey as well.
There's one point in the story where JT takes them back to Virginia to meet his family. He's certain his sister-in-law, Hannah, can help Casey as she runs a horse farm where she works to provide therapy for kids like Casey. This gives you a chance to catch up with the rest of the McKinney clan who were introduced in previous books. I loved the way they were so accepting of Paige and went out of their way to make sure Paige and Casey felt welcome. Casey's interaction with the McKinney kids was great as well. It so touched my heart.
This is one I didn't want to put down. The characters were wonderful and the story left you feeling all warm and fuzzy at the end. Definitely recommend!

Worth It All A McKinney Brothers Novel The McKinney Brothers Book 3 edition by Claudia Connor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I wasn't AS impressed with this one as I was the first or second book. How can you top Matt and Abby right?
Nevertheless, I did enjoy reading this story. It took me a while to get into it because I bought it when it came out and my preferences changed but I finally stuck with it this time. Paige and JT were a great couple, and I enjoyed the single mom aspect. Especially because Paige's daughter Casey had a disability, it made the story a bit more relatable.
There wasn't much conflict in the plot like I had come to expect from reading the previous books. Matt and Abby had A LOT to overcome and Stephen and Hannah had some tough circumstances as well. Paige and JT just had some past conflicts left unresolved before they could be together. I was very pleased by the fact that he had closure for himself and that Paige came to her own realizations by herself, what was best for her and Casey. In the grand scheme of things it was a decent addition to the series. Didn't connect like I had hoped but still a good story.
Ms Conner’s writing just draws me in like an old friend. Her stories have a way to grab you in and relax you. Her characters are more than just good looks. They have dimension and are family oriented. This book just makes it better with the main character and the five year old daughter of the woman he cares for are both amputees. The bond there is so sweet and I couldn’t read it fast enough! And it ended all too soon!
"He had a quiet, easy way about him. There was no swagger, he didn't saunter-though looking like he did, he most definitely could have. Could have sauntered, sashayed, skipped, or even flown and any woman in his vicinity would have fallen into his arms, their eyes glassing over."

JT is a man that has held on to guilt from the events leading to his car accident. He was a football player in college and he had dreams. Those dreams were lost with his loss of part of his leg after the accident. He went to rehab far far away from home. Now he is a successful bioengineer and working on patents for prosthetics. He is into high tech. His best friend also has lost both of his legs. They work hard. Jake though, doesn’t play hard. So when he sees Paige in a diner and watches her help a man read a menu he is captivated by her.
Paige is a single mom. Her daughter came by way of a pushy boyfriend in a drunken moment. It was the only time she has ever had sex. She lives her life for her daughter. She works two jobs and goes to school. She doesn’t have time for dating. She barely has time for sleeping or eating. Her daughter, JT noticed while in the diner, has part of a leg missing too.
So, they both are attracted to each other but both have complicated lives. Jake/JT is a good man and sees that Paige’s daughter, Casey, is not wearing her prosthetic and offers to take a look at it in his office. Casey takes to Jake like mud to a pig! He has a missing leg too! One visit at his office isn’t enough for either Paige or Casey or JT either and JT finds ways to keep seeing them. Then Paige and JT have one kiss that leads to another. Paige is falling. JT is falling. But both are scared. Casey, that little girl is too much…
Paige narrowed her eyes in the direction he’d pointed. “Nothing. I just…I can’t believe she left me.” “Why?” he asked, confused by her somewhat panicked expression. “Maybe ‘cause Jenny said you’re too hot and I’m not big enough to be chap-a-rone,” Casey told him. “I’m not hot are you?”
Put Paige and Casey and JT in with the McKinney clan and everyone is playing cupid! Plus, we get to see the other McKinney brothers and catch up with them.
I love this story. I love the gradual building of their relationship. I loved how Casey just wormed her way into JT’s heart. The ending is adorable. Now I just want another brother’s story!
My only hang up is the cover. It doesn't really go with the book.
If you like high tech prosthetics, horses, Italian food, the beach, falling in love, big families, worrying about going to kindergarten, kids, then this might be for you!
I wasn’t moved by this story; I felt that the characters were stereotyped – the almost-virgin heroine, the handsome hero that every woman desires – and I didn’t really enjoyed the writing style – too many cliches and too much telling. I also didn’t feel enough chemistry between the main couple and the romance was lackluster. Besides there were a few things that were too much for me the heroine's child excessive role (this is supposed to be a romance; I usually enjoy stories with kids, but this was overdone) or the hero’s astonishingly fast success in business.
This just wasn't for me, others might enjoy it.
3.5 stars.
